Not really in the mood tonight due to circumstances and human beings, so no attempted humour, no photos and hopefully lots of rain.
Friday will be pretty cloudy as low pressure approaches from the west, but with the odd sunny break it may reach 23'C. Humid too, also some showery bits of mainly light rain possible.
Saturday will be mostly cloudy, some bits of light rain possible, drier later, less warm and humid, 20'C.
Sunday looks like to give some brightness, there is a 40% chance of an hour or two of heavy rain around the early afternoon, but it may miss Reading and stay to the south, 21'C.
Monday sees fresher air and high pressure building, so it should be sunny, dry and 19'C, just a few clouds.
Tuesday looks like clouding over, with a band of rain approaching, it may not quite reach as south as Reading but on current expectations, it will during the afternoon, 18'C.
Wednesday, any early light rain will soon clear to leave sunny spells, 18'C, not especially warm in a cool breeze.
That'll have to do, cannot be arsed to do any more.
If you want further ahead then use Metcheck. I saw a forecast of 300mph winds for the UK the other day.

Updated Weather Forecast - Monday 8th August 2011
Today was a crap day at work. This is going to be a crap weather forecast. Not necessarily because of crap weather, but the amount of uncertainty. The most difficult forecast for some time.
Today's weather picture comes courtesy of me. And thanks to that rather excellent thundery downpour yesterday in Reading.
In summary, this week will often be cloudy with a noticeable westerly wind, but warm and humid at times too. The questionable part is how much rain and when, and how much sun and when. Enough sunshine and 26'C is possible (this last word being very much operational).
Tuesday will be sunny and dry, some cloud, not especially warm at 19'C.
Wednesday sees warmer air push in, but with an increasing westerly wind, much more cloud and it may be thick enough for some light rain later in the day, 22'C in any sunshine.
Thursday remains mainly cloudy, some patchy rain possible at any time of the day, but quite warm and humid up to 22'C.
Friday might see something in the way of sunshine and if it does then 25'C is possible. Equally it could be could with some patchy rain and 21'C.
I don't especially want to pick an outcome for the weekend, but I guess I have to given my proclaimed weather forecasting 'abilities'.
I ain't especially confident yet but for Saturday I favour sunshine and 25'C but clouding over with rain in the evening or overnight, potentially heavy. Don't be surprised if it rains during the day instead.
Sunday I favour some sunshine, 19'C. Similar to the Tuesday (9th).

Updated Weather Forecast - Thursday 4th August 2011
I reckon I know the question that you want me to answer...is summer over?
The answer is no. Just a short blip, nicely timed for the weekend. I ain't promising more hot weather but the potential is still there.
Expect to see more clouds like this over the weekend - this is my photo. Please, if you want me to feature a weather photo of yours, I would be delighted to.
Friday will actually be pretty decent, some spells of sunshine, but cloud too, a warm 23'C could be reached, with a small chance of a light shower.
Saturday will be cloudier, though the sun may show its face at times, a higher chance of a shower or two at 60%. 20'C with a bit of sunshine.
Sunday sees low pressure over the south-west of the UK, plenty of showers, you will be lucky to stay dry - but it is possible. 19'C.
Monday sees the low pressure move into the North Sea but bringing a northerly wind with it with bands of showers, very lucky if you stay dry all day, 20'C in the sunshine, and there will be some.
Tuesday sees high pressure building from the west but only 19'C due to the slightly cool air, sunshine with a 30% chance of a light shower.
Wednesday sees high pressure in charge, dry sunny, and a little warmer at 21'C.
Thursday may be cloudier, if so 20'C, but with some sunshine it could rise to 23'C.
Next weekend is still uncertain, though I fancy 25'C with a chance of thunderstorms. Of course I fancy that as they are my favourite weather conditions. But I think it might happen.

Extra Updated Weather Forecast - Wednesday 3rd August 2011
My sister has requested a weather forecast especially for this weekend as she is going to a festival in Derby. She wasn't happy with the last one where I forecasted rain and showers and below average temperatures.
The last festival that she went to was the Isle Of Wight festival and it poured down.
So, for anyone else reading, if you are planning on a festival trip, check with my sister first to make sure she is not going to a festival that weekend, if you want to avoid a soaking.
And for my sister...well perhaps slightly less bad than my last forecast, the worst of the rain will likely be Monday rather than Saturday...
Friday will be quite decent, there will be plenty of cloud around with a small chance of a light shower developing, 22'C in Reading, 20'C in Derby.
Saturday and the first low pressure I expected will go over France instead, so there will be some sunshine, but plenty of cloud too, and some showers around, 60% chance of one. Showers being showers, remember you could stay dry all day or get 5 showers. 21'C both locations. Maybe some early rain in Derby too.
Sunday sees the low pressure much closer, so more showers and some of these will be heavy and prolonged, increasingly so as the day goes on. 85% chance in Derby, 95% in Reading, 19'C.
Monday has the low pressure over England, so showers or longer outbreaks of rain, very little sunshine, some of the rain could be heavy especially later in the day, 18'C.

A Crazy Winter Weather Forecast
I have just come across this guy and his forecast for winter 2011-2012. I have seen him doubted just because he is a truck driver by profession. I shall bear his forecast in mind, as his forecast for summer was fairly accurate though he did just give general synoptics rather than break it down into months or periods, which is much harder - anyone can say "there will be periods of warm weather for 3-5 days and some unsettled weather".
I am expecting a cold winter, probably very cold at times, but nothing quite like this forecast, which is as severe as it could really get in the UK, without an ice age.

This winter may bring severe icing on the River Clyde, Thames, Loch Lomond and even around some UK coastal areas.
The worst of the cold I believe will hit around or just after New Year following a 3rd UK-wide White Christmas in a row and may last through much of January. Within this cold spell, Highs may struggle to reach -10C in Glasgow and Edinburgh and lows may take a run at -20C. Many English and Welsh towns and Cities may struggle to reach highs of -6 to -8C and lows may tumble towards -18 to -21C.
It is possible that the all-time coldest reading in the UK of -27C reached at both Braemar, Aberdeenshire and Altnaharra, Sutherland may be threatened if not beaten and even in areas of England we may see the first -20C low since the 1960s and 70s.
As for Europe, Arctic cold may spread continent-wide during late December and we may be looking at a period of severe cold after a snowy December from the UK to Poland. Record cold and a maximum test to humanity, the power system and transport infrastructure may make for tough living for 2-3 weeks in January.

Updated Weather Forecast - Monday 1st August 2011
We reached somewhere around 27'C in sunny Reading today. It looked something like this:

Tuesday will be sunny again, but there will be some cloud at times, and it may bubble up enough for a shower later in the day, but only 10% chance. Hot, around 26'C. Accuracy - all good though a few more showers around and 26.9'C. 85% happy with forecast.
Wednesday will again feature plenty of sunshine, but also some cloud which may once again bubble into a shower, probably nothing too heavy in the Reading area, hot again at around 26'C - a little less if you catch a shower.
Thursday will see an area of low pressure over the north of the UK develop, there will be showers around, I'd say a 50% chance of catching one in Reading, but there should also be some warm sunshine and it should reach 23'C.
Friday will most likely be fair, and sunny but much fresher at 19'C. Just a tiny chance of a light shower.
Saturday looks like seeing a deep area of low pressure (for the time of year anyway) move in from the Atlantic, bringing outbreaks of rain which could be quite heavy, 17'C. Potentially quite windy. The exact track of the low pressure isn't nailed on, so the details could change slightly. But it will rain.
Sunday will be cool and windy, with an 80% chance of blustery showers which could be heavy - the wind fetch is all the way from the Arctic. Lovely.
Monday will see less wind and less showers, with some sunshine and maybe 19'C.
I am hopeful for high pressure developing next week - and it may even be hot for the weekend after. I stress that it might be!

Updated Weather Forecast - Thursday 28th July 2011
Well I think I got my last forecast pretty much spot on. Happy days.
The summer theme is set to continue - or at least the English Summer theme is!
Friday sees high pressure over the UK weakening a little, as low pressures slowly approach from west and east, but it will stay dry, it should start sunny but I am expecting quite a bit of cloud to build during the day, 21'C.
Saturday will be sunnier, but still some cloud around, warm at 23'C.
Sunday sees low pressure to the north-west of the UK but the sunshine should hang on, though perhaps hazy later on. Dependant on cloud amounts, it could reach a very warm 25'C, but maybe only 22'C.
Monday sees the low pressure stop moving towards us, the exact details for the day are uncertain but I would rather something fairly cloudy but warm, 22'C, with a very small outside chance of a shower. It really would only take a slight change in atmospheric conditions for it to be sunny and 25'C.
Tuesday sees a new low pressure approaching from the south-west but nowhere near the UK yet, and a slight southerly breeze may see temperatures reach 25'C, but a 20% chance of a shower in the evening. Actual - warmer at 26.9'C with showers in the evening - 90% happy with accurary.
Wednesday you can toss a coin for, either the low pressure is over the UK with heavy, thundery rain at times but still warm, at least 22'C. Or it is hotter and sunnier, at 28'C. 50/50.
Thursday very similar. It may be thundery and warm, or sunny and hot, possibly up to 30'C. If hot then I think that will be the last day and to finish with rain and thunder.
Next weekend is too uncertain, considering I am not even sure about Monday! But I would currently favour showers and 20'C, but it depends on how next week plays out.

I have to say that I am incredibly happy with my recent weather forecasts - I am on top of my game - my predictions of good summer weather are coming true, and the Met Office warnings of a month of rain are total bullshit. Happy days. I am truly amazing.
Anyway, enough of the ego, I will give you my new brilliant weather forecast and you should like it. It isn't going to be perfect, some cloudy days and a chance of thundery showers later in the period, but plenty of dry and at times, sunny and warm weather.
Tuesday will start cloudy but the sun should come through later in the afternoon. Very small chance of a light shower this morning. Somewhere between 20'C and 22'C depending on sunshine amounts.
Wednesday again under the influence of high pressure to the west in the Atlantic, it might start sunny but there is an area of cloud expected to spread from the east across a fair amount of England, 18'C if cloudy, but 21'C if the cloud misses you. Dry.
Thursday sees the opposite with cloud spreading from the west but I am hopeful of much of the day being sunny, and it may even reach 24'C. Perhaps a light shower in the evening with the expected area of cloud but most likely to stay dry.

Quick Weather Thoughts Update
I still think that there is a chance of a heat-wave occurring in the UK at the beginning of August, probably only for a few days, temperatures of 35'C widely.
I rate the chance at 35% - previously I stated 60%.
So the chance has diminished as the time approaches but the atmospheric conditions are there for it to happen, and I will inform if it is likely to.

Updated Weather Forecast - Thursday 21st July 2011
I hope you read the Met Office's press releases earlier this week about the next 30 days bringing rain, rain and more rain.
And I hope that you remember my much more positive weather forecasts, whilst recognising the changeable nature, I still think we will be able to class this summer as a decent summer.
I am delighted that the Met Office are so in disagreement with me.
Let battle commence.
If you read my previous forecast (a whole 7 of you did...I am not impressed), then you will know that last weekend's big summer low pressure that has gone to Scandinavia, is expected to head back west towards the UK which is exceptionally unusual, though in it's way is the Azores high pressure to our south-west, ridging towards us.
Friday will have more cloud than sun, but more sun than Thursday, with a 50% chance of a shower. The showers will be very slow moving and will therefore last an hour at minimum for any location. Hail and thunder possible, but not especially likely. Maybe 20'C.
Saturday sees the instability dissipate, but the low pressure to the east moves closer, I don't expect anything more than cloud and perhaps some spots of rain, also some brightness is quite possible, around 19'C.
Sunday will be the best day of the weekend, a reasonably good amount of sunshine, some cloud around, 21'C is quite possible which is only marginally below the average for this time of year.
Monday will see warmer air, but also a higher chance of cloud and a shower, 18'C if cloudy but 22'C if luckily sunny.
Tuesday will be cooler at around 18'C but more sunshine, and only a tiny chance of a light shower.
Wednesday should be a good sunny day, 21'C, with a few clouds. It may be warmer than that.
Thursday looks sunny again as high pressure exerts more influence, 24'C perhaps.
Friday and the next weekend should remain mainly dry, chance of a shower perhaps on Sunday, 24 to 26'C.
I would say that there is a 30% chance of it getting close to 30'C that weekend but if it does then the chance of a late afternoon thundery downpour developing will be quite possible.
I would not at all be surprised if it actually turns out warmer and sunnier than I have predicted, hot rather than warm.
The chance of more unsettled weather looks likely to increase from roughly 4th August to 12th August but it should improve once again after that.
Please, if I am right and the Met Office is wrong, spread the word about my weather forecast.

Updated Weather Forecast - Monday 18th July 2011
I was delighted today, to come across the following news story in The Sun (don't worry folks, it was the online version, I didn't buy the paper, I am more of an Economist man, or The Daily Star), but anyway, I quote The Sun:
RAIN will lash Britain for the next THIRTY DAYS, forecasters predicted yesterday.
Millions face a holiday washout with storms expected to whip in until at least August 16.
